UPDATE: February 2026 – I am currently recovering from a broken leg with some complications so there are currently no fixed dates for workshops yet – the workshops below will be happening as soon as is possible. Spring 2026 Workshop Dates

1 day Introduction to Basketry Workshop – This is a 1 day course suitable for complete beginners who would like to have a go and see what it is all about £50.

2 day Beginners Basketry Workshop – This is a 2 day workshop to learn the basics of basket weaving, making 2 round baskets to consolidate your skills. The cost is £95 which includes all materials, subsidised by Northumbria Basketry Group. Bring your own lunch, tea/coffee & biscuits included 9.30 – 3.30pm.

2 day Square basket Workshop – in 2 days you will learn to make a square cornered basket. This is suitable for those who have previous round experience & it is possible for those with no experience just might be a little harder than a round beginners course..

2 day Log or Laundry Basket Workshop – in 2 days you will make a larger log or laundry basket. This workshop is suitable for those with some previous experience. £120 which includes all materials, bring your own lunch. Tea/coffee, biscuits & cakes included,

Zarzo basket workshop – this 1 day workshop is suitable for beginners or those with some experience. £45

Oval shopping basket £120 9.30am – 3.30pm. Suitable for those who have previous experience

A morning of afternoon making platters or shallow dishes. Ideal for beginners, they make great Christmas Presents.

£35/person includes all materials, coffee/tea and cake.

As well as running workshops at other venues e.g. Gallery 45 we also offer workshops from our studio at Willowdene House, Longframlington.

Workshops can last anything from a few hours to a few days.

We like to teach you what you want to learn but if you are a complete beginner and have no idea of what might be possible here are some ideas of workshops to spark your imagination.

Spinning

More relaxing than sitting on a bicycle in the gym, the original spinning is the art of turning fibres into yarn, with a stick, drop spindle or wheel.

Peg Loom Weaving

The peg loom is a very simple loom which is perfect for using raw fleece to make rugs.
